A Guide to Hi-Performance Cold-Formed Steel Framed Assemblies - SFIA101

This program, using building science principles, will illustrate how cold-formed steel framed assemblies can achieve project performance requirements. Specific emphasis will be made to fire resistance, acoustics, structure, and moisture resistance.

Learning Units:               1
Credit Designations:       LU|HSW
Course Format:              Instructor-led face-to-face or Distant Learning

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will explore, using recognized ASTM test standards, the inherent fire resistance of cold-formed steel framed steel assemblies.
2. Participants will investigate how the principles of acoustical performance combine to provide high Sound Transmission Classification, STC,  assemblies.

3. Participants will learn the basic structural procedures to design and detail a simple non-load bearing cold-formed steel assembly.

4. Participants will envision the required steps to control moisture migration in a cold-formed steel framed assembly.
